Review of Lake Mungo (2009) by Brett B — 08 May 2012
A very compelling and creepy fake documentary. The performances are entirely convincing (which is essential in this sub-genre), and the film withholds and parcels out information and revelations in a very clever way.
It is also very well edited; things slowly build and build, eventually culminating in a subtly unsettling ending. Those expecting nonstop scares should keep away, as this is a pretty restrained effort, but the moodiness and disturbing nature of the proceedings make this worth a look.
