Review of Ladies in Lavender (2004) by Marshall F — 11 Mar 2011
I'm not really sure what to say here. It's an emotionally complex movie, but it left me pretty depressed. Essentially, a new young face introduced into an aging population of a town in pre-war England leads to a complex weave of love, jealousy, and self-interest and self-preservation.
The ending honestly left me a little drained and empty. Nigel Hess and Joshua Bell have supplied a stunning soundtrack--Fantasy for Violin and Orchestra with Joshua Bell is something I can't really describe.
I honestly believe that Fantasy is the most emotional piece of music I've ever heard. I think it's just waiting for its time to be famous. Listen to it and help make that happen.
