Review of Labor Day (2013) by Mike C — 06 May 2014
I guess I liked it but I probably haven't seen anything this sappy since Bridges of Madison County. Wait, yes I have.
First it was vampires, then sadists, now convicts? Brolin plays an escaped convict who shakes up with the very depressed character played by Winslet. Fair enough. But this gentle convict can do just about everything, including the pie scene that seems to be the most notable piece of the movie.
Being a bit injured myself after coming out of a relationship, I guess I wanted to see a movie like this...re-instill some hope, inspire me about love, etc. But it might have been a bit too much. Then the ending seems to be wrapped up a little too neatly.
