Fellini's first international success, and also those of his wife Giuletta Masina in her lovely juxtaposed performance with Anthony Quinn. Her naïvity to his brutish ignorance, the plot is simple enough, a road movie as the title suggests, but it is the lyrical drama within the simplistic that is so tragic and profound.
