Review of La Strada (1954) by Maxwell S — 07 Aug 2012
The early Fellini film is one of his most accomplished. Fellini gets all the material in there that needs to, and exceeds thoroughly, but not everything he wants to, like he did with "8 1/2" , "Amarcord", "And the Ship Sails On", etc.
. This film has a giant heart, and Fellini wants to put it where most people won't find anything. The result is more effective than I could've imagined before seeing this. Truly worthy chapter of an astonishing career.
