Review of La Strada (1954) by Alberto A — 11 Feb 2014
Well my first Fellini film wasn't what I expected. Luckily, La Strada is not a weird movie as the rest of them seem to be. It is actually very funny and quite bittersweet. It is about a woman called Gelsomina who has felt useless her entire life and finally she finds the charisma she didn't know she had while working with a circus artist, Zampanò.
But because of his manhood and ego, he treats her as a useless person and then we can see the circus is not a great place to meet the world when someone's as naive as Gelsomina. Giulietta Masina (Federico Fellini's real wife) does a great performance.
