Watching this again, it reminds me that Steve Martin can be a genius when he feels like switching it on.
The totally surreal nature of this tale is so much fun, and the fact that it is played straight and true makes it feel even more absurd and funny.
The supporting cast all make a good impression, even SJP (who I can't stand normally), is v funny in this.
For all of it's silliness and it's endless spoofing of the L.A. lifestyle, this is a really sweet natured flick and I have to say that I am a sucker for it.
I miss this Steve snd I hope that he has a go at something resembling this or the jerk etc. soon.
