Review of La Notte (1961) by Dimitris R — 25 Jul 2007
If "L' Aventurra" wasn't a revolutionary movie and the 1st part of his trilogy, then Antonioni could have hit the jackpot with "La Notte", which is in my eyes his best movie and quite possibly the best movie that Italy has ever produced. Though this is quite debatable and heavily depends on taste and personal mentality, it is tough to find any other film around with this brilliant realism and smooth representation of human relationships from the right distance that Antonioni gets from his always comme si comme ca and even more often dead-end led characters.
Marvelous and astonishingly true, this movie is definitely one of the best that cinema has ever produced.
