Review of La La Land (2016) by Zane S — 29 May 2017
As previously proven with Whiplash, Damien Chazelle is a talented director and one of the best right now. Chazelle continues his standard by creating another phenomenal movie. This film feels both new and familiar by mixing classic styles of film with modern. The cinematography is original and creative with impressive long shots and bold choices. The characters are instantly clear from the get-go and the 2 characters relationships is deftly established with a musical number. The film has clean editing that creates for a well paced and uniquely designed movie. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are suitably casted due to their excellent display of on-screen chemistry.
Expertly crafted and well acted, La La Land is a nostalgic film that feels so new.
