I liked it but ... there is a bit of difference between musical and La La Land.
I have seen several musicals and this one is part-musical. Intro and first 30-40 min are amazing, the middle part was well done but you can't pace 2 hour musical in non-dragged way.
Movie has amazing technical quality, scenery and performances.
And sadly it relates (at core) too much with my life, to a point when I pause the movie and started deep thinking. Having a dream is good and sadly not all dreams come true and even if they do - not the way we want it to see happen.
And this movie clearly shows that. And finally, I would say that this movie lacks ... movie, Having more "movie" in it (to me) but of course if you take it as a musical then it is a perfect musical that you can view as a movie.
Mama Mia is the best musical I have seen and you can clearly spot differences in how less movie it is and how more movie LA LA Land is. I think 4/5 is fair enough (if I have to rank somehow).
