Review of La La Land (2016) by Cameron A — 16 Nov 2018
This is a cinematic treat that harkens back to classic cinema, while also showcasing the dynamic and creative artistry to be found in jazz music. As much as it is cinematic, it bears realism when discussing ambition in showbusiness, and how that strains relationships.
The performances are top-notch, and the direction is seamless. The story is well-constructed, and the music by Justin Hurwitz and the songwriters is fantastic. An excellent piece of art that will stand the test of time!
