Review of La Haine (1995) by William I — 06 Aug 2008
Pretty amazing... this film about ghetto life in modern day Paris is one of the most dynamic and unsettling urban dramas I've ever seen. The three leads take on a very tough endeavor here--to be charming and sympathetic in their youthfulness while still maintaining the volatile tendencies of the Parisian ghetto crowd.
And Mathieu Kassovitz's sharp and unique black-and-white photography is masterful. It's unforgettable.
