Review of La Haine (1995) by Angel V — 03 Oct 2009
Shot in black and white, the film has a grit and realism to it that helps to build the tension and leave you on edge. Sound design is very effectively used to effect in doing this to you. Their are many homages in the film as the director must love DeNiro, Scorsese and DePalma.
What really makes this film explode though is the last five minutes. You think the boys will make it and....wham! what a magnificent ending. The film speaks volumes about the state of living around the world.
Loved it!
