Review of La Haine (1995) by Dustin D — 13 Oct 2016
This movie from 1995 France feels like it could be dubbed over in English and released today and feel relevant. The film follows three young men in the aftermath of a riot that followed the death of a young minority in police custody.
At one point, after one man goes off on a crazy monologue, a character reacts, "You talk like you're half Moses, half Donald Trump." Despite the obvious parallels with the U.S. today, La Haine stands on its own as a great film, with inventive film making and intense storytelling.
