Review of La Haine (1995) by Dale J — 21 Jun 2010
An absolute masterpiece, with exceptional performances by Vincent Cassel, Hubert Kounde and Said Taghmaoui. Winner of best direction Cannes 1995. Super low budget, but absolutely moving. The story follows 3 friends in a crime heavy neighborhood of Paris over a 24hr period.
Hubert: "La haine attire la haine!", "hatred breeds hatred.".
After a friend is killed by a policeman during a riot, the three friends must decide how they're going to react, while the community around them smolders with anger and prejudges.
