Review of La Dolce Vita (1960) by Agatino Z — 03 Jul 2008
This is the film that launched the adjective Fellinian, as well as coined the term Paparazzi. With it's sumptuous black and white, it depicts the decadence of modern society through an always lower culture. Fellini will reenact many of his main themes and styles from La Dolce Vita in films that are considered Masterpieces (8 1/2, Amarcord) or failed pieces (Giuglietta degli spiriti, Fellini's Casanova).
Along with Charlot's image and Norma Desmond's descending from the stairs, the image of Anita Ekberg refreshing herself in the famous Fontana di Trevi is an Icon.
