Review of La Dolce Vita (1960) by Darius M — 29 Mar 2009
Lacks a little of the surrealist joy and singularity of other work by Fellini, but witty and exhuberent all the same. Great depth to the shot composition and some really contemporary resonances in the themes of the film.
Like with 8 and a half, it is often the life around the story that makes the film. Proposes that life is weird, beautiful and aesthetic, and given the quality on view here, it's difficult to argue against.
