Review of La Dolce Vita (1960) by Yiting S — 12 Jan 2010
"We must get beyond passions, like a great work of art. In such miraculous harmony. We should love each other outside of time... detached." Said Steiner. He was my hero in the movie yet committed suicide.
A Sweet Life is a tragic drama, typical Fellini's movie style, beautifully done yet inconclusive. The main character Marcello doesn't know what he wants and seems to fall into every woman. Understanding how to love for a handsome and super networked man with high intellectuals is proven to be a difficult task. It's almost genetic from his father's old days.
Yet there's some hope as Fellini filmed the father back to countryside with the mother. Life is a long journey and we are learning the patience and perseverance.
