Review of Kwaidan (1965) by Jennie R — 31 Mar 2011
Before I saw this film, I read that it was nominated for an Academy Award. I was really looking forward to the film. The four stories were each clever and intriguing stories. The first one was predictable.
The second one and the last one were great stories that I was surprised had not been redone somewhere. The third story I found slow moving. The artsy bit of the film was lost on me. The eyeball covered sky and the home made painted backgrounds just cheapened the effect for me.
The make up was great. I loved the Blind young man covered in written word. Love Asian horror. I just really did not love this.
