Review of Kumaré (2012) by Simon D — 26 Sep 2013
I won't say this review will be a spoiler because what I will reveal is evident from the start of the film but if, like me, you prefer to know nothing about a film before watching it, then don't read this till after.
What a cop out!! Vikram leads to believe that the big reveal will be spectacular all the way through the film, embarrassing and humiliating the gullible weirdos who commit themselves to Kumare, instead he get's scared, and offers them an easy way out by making out that the experiment was to show people that they all have a "guru inside themselves" which is just more mystical bollocks that they can subscribe to in the face of potential humiliation. The fact is that Kumare used these idiots to prove how easy it is to become a fraud and make lots of money from idiots. The film starts by showing other frauds in action. There is no mistake that this is what the film was about and it is nothing more than a cop out that he didn't have the balls to stand up and tell his simpleton followers this. Cop out!
On a lighter note, as a movie, it's not too bad, interesting idea.
