Review of Kumaré (2012) by Mary Lou C — 03 May 2013
I was introduced to this film by a friend, who happens to be my very thoughtful and faithful Episcopalian minister. I'm a student of religion in all of its forms. What Vikram Ghandi starts teaching does become very real, even the blue light meditation he invents and shares with his students; this is a conclusion I also came to while studying religion in America--- human beings have an enormous creative capacity and just about any spiritual practice we can dig up or create will help us attain some order and quiet in our lives.
There's a difference in religions, and as a Christian I would claim that my guru, Jesus Christ is very different indeed, but yes... you are your own guru. You create happiness within yourself. And those hobbit houses in the Urantia compound are actually pretty neat and I want one.
Urantia... I can't believe he actually went out there. Oh, that takes me back. Anyway, I think that even Christian ministers should ask themselves the same exact questions Ghandi is asking in this film.
Highly recommended.
