Fast, fun, and a great popcorn flick, Kong: Skull Island is a fitting entry into the monster universe, and even better than the recent Godzilla movie. Set in the 1970s, Kong: Skull Island has a great 1970s atmosphere, from the music, to the Vietnam War discussions.
As the cast enters Skull Island, the movie picks up with thrilling action sequences and great visual effects. Solid acting is prevalent with Hiddleston, Larson, Jackson, Reilly, and Goodman all making the most out of their characters.
King Kong also shines as a scary-huge ape with a sense of humanity in him as well. Kong: Skull Island is a fun addition to the monsterverse, and is much better than it even needed to be.
