Review of Kon-Tiki (2012) by Chris M — 15 Jun 2013
A succinct depiction of Thor Heyerdahl's journeys across the Pacific iaction s film is wise to avoid the melodramatics, and manages to create some decent action shots and cinematography despite the limited budget.
While the film is very Scandinavian in its reliance on nonverbal expression to communicate, the lack of exploration as to the person Thor Heyerdahl really was (his personality, motivations) makes the film rather flat in terms of three-dimensional characters (but still a genuine tribute to an innovator in a time when exploration was thought to have been no longer a viable endeavour).
