Review of Knives Out (2019) by Vaythand — 02 Aug 2020
A movie that mistakes being self-referential for cleverness, and a retreading of political caricatures as commentary. For a movie that pretends to be about moral ambiguity, the characters are decidedly put in the “good guy” or “bad guy” baskets.
By the time Daniel Craig’s character reveals his final deduction, which was the one time in the movie I had fun, it’s just not enough to justify the eye-rolling meandering up to that point. It does look pretty though.
