Simply a masterpiece. Formally appealing, superb music by Krzysztof Komeda plus wonderful acting. Leon Niemczyk was definitely one of the best Polish actors ever. Did you know that Polanski was dubbing the youg guy himself? Actually I wonder if anyone not speaking Polish can catch all the subtleties.
.. Ah, one more, who said that this movie is supposed to be 'entertaining'?
