Review of Knife in the Water (1962) by Zoran S — 10 Feb 2009
This is masterfully directed with almost every shot brimming with suggestive framing and staging. Cynical, grim, and sexy, the film is essentially an exercise in sadism: nothing means anything the beyond the shifting power plays and masculine "pissing contests" on display.
Characters torture each other psychologically for no real reason other than they can.
