Review of Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985) by Greg N — 26 Apr 2009
Not nearly as good as it should be. Some scenes plain suck and others incredibly well done. Ultimately the problem is that it seems like the nicest prison in all of Latin America and not the utter pit from the book.
So it never seems like the somehow utterly more optimistic and less lurid/pornorific Jean Genet story that it is. William Hurt does a great job. He made this back when he did stuff like Body Heat and Altered States all the time.
Why isn't he still making stuff like that?
