Review of Kiss Me Deadly (1955) by Shane S — 12 Jul 2011
Oh look, a classic film that actually features REAL driving scenes rather than those cheap studio rear projection jobs. A noir whose hero acts more like we'd expect Sam Spade to act like: a total jerk. And not to mention, a Cold War drama that doesn't feel like your typical LOL I HATE THE RUSSIANS LET'S KILL THEM ALL Cold War drama.
The beginning and the end are quite possibly the best parts of the film - defines the paranoia and confusion and blunt realism that follows afterwards.
Also, isn't this the first time we have people actually reacting to the presence of nuclear elements rather than simply vanishing out of thin air?
