Not perfect, by any means, but it's DARN good! They got the CGI models down, right! 3D scan has come a long way since Beowulf, I guess. Until they open their mouths to talk, my eyes told me I was looking at flesh-and-blood actors.

Well done. Still need work on not moving mouths TOO much for realistic speech. The plot wasn't that bad, as long as you're conscious. Kingdoms at war, one uses MagiTek (callback to FF6, etc.), the other uses The Crystal (series staple since FF1) to be on the defensive for 100 years.

Betrayals galore, refugee plight, colonial strife, and one badass showdown/standoff between the kings! That never happens! Spoilers: Sean Bean's character dies. Also, there are visual callbacks to the entirety of the Final Fantasy games! The creatures, airships, architecture and even clothing evoke, or directly reference, the various games.

A famous sea monster shows up and wreaks havoc, and the "demons" look just like a famous boss from most peoples' favorite Final Fantasy game (7). It was a real pleasure to watch, and didn't make cringe the whole way through, like Advent Children, or just get bored and leave, like Spirits Within.

Where were these writers a decade ago? Why didn't they write FF13? The "professional" critics might need to have a coffee before sitting down to movies, if this plot tripped them up. Pay some attention guys/gals! If you can follow ANY of the Star Wars movies, you can follow this.

It's not Fincher.
