Review of King of California (2007) by Aleshia H — 03 Aug 2009
A great film, grounded in reality with a little dusting of magic. The movie tossed me back and forth between the past and present lives of the main characters, Charlie and Miranda. Yet while spinning the past and the present, I was also constantly considering the future as I questioned whether Charlie is actually grounded in reality or spinning down the road of insanity as he searches for lost treasure under a Costco.
This movie firmly plants you in a world that is constantly changing, but yet strongly influence by its past. If you liked Little Miss Sunshine, Dan in Real Life, and I <3 Huckabees, this is a guaranteed hit with you.
