Review of King of California (2007) by Michael L — 09 May 2013
A troubled musician is released from the mental hospital and goes back to live with his 16-year-old daughter who is not exactly thrilled to have him back - particularly seeing as he seems obsessively keen in digging up a hidden treasure.
The screenplay is unbalanced; the realistic way in which it portrays its characters seems to work against the formulaic and shallow narrative structure, with its heavy use of narration. Douglas in the lead role is a plus.
