Review of King of California (2007) by Laura N — 28 Sep 2012

It reminded me of the book The Glass Castle, except this movie was a lot more enchanting. I suppose it can be that way when it is fictional and not real life. In some ways, I feel that the "magic" although lovely and wonderful steals something from the reality of living with a parent with a mental illness.

It almost makes it sound as though all the hellish things Miranda put up with while growing up are worthwhile in the end. And that is not fair. But it was a lovely story.
