Review of King Kong (1933) by Al M — 11 Aug 2010
The original giant monster film, King Kong is classic sci-fi/horror at its finest. Featuring amazing special effects for its day that presage later works like those of Ray Harenhausen, King Kong is filled with amazing monster sequences and battles between King Kong and a series of dinosaurs.
More surprisingly, King Kong is not just a riveting monster film but also a heartbreaking story of love, misunderstanding, and tragedy. King Kong remains an unforgettable cinematic experience even 75 years after its original release, and it foreshadows the science fiction film genre that would develop in the 1950s.
