Review of King Kong (1933) by Isla B — 17 Sep 2013
80 years on, King Kong is still a classic. This movie inspired many tales of giant apes, and is practically the grandfather of the monster movie genre, and it's incredibly easy to see why it's a classic movie.
The acting is really good, and the plot comes together in a way that it's actually better than the Peter Jackson remake. The special effects may be corny by today's standards, but they have plenty of classic charm, and sometimes, the special effects can be pretty funny.
Overall, this is a film that's been ingrained into the public consciousness, and in a way, this has served to preserve the film over the past eight decades. In all ways, this is a film that deserves its reputation.
