Review of Kind Hearts and Coronets (1949) by Sean B — 29 Sep 2009
Ive only just discovered how great an actor Alec Guinness was and what a great way to start then with a film where he plays EIGHT different parts. The comedy is black and very subtle and though the ending was a bit unbelievable (though it was later ripped off an an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents), I walked away feeling I had seen something special.
How sad that Guinness will only be remembered for Star Wars. Dennis Price was also very good as the star (though Guinness steals the movie) with murder on the brain. Hamer's direction is spectacular and makes me surprised that I havent heard more about him.
Not o be missed!
