Review of Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003) by Campbell P — 22 Mar 2015
This is one of the most fun movies I've ever seen. Kill Bill Vol. 1 stars the ever so talented Uma Thurman as Black Mamba who is seeking revenge on Bill and his 3 other highly trained assassins. The only Tarantino flick I've seen up to this point was Pulp Fiction and after seeing Kill Bill, I love watching his unique direction in film! He's able to take this really unique story and add so much style into it.
There are more than a few mind-blowing scenes! The anime cartoon was so unexpected and surprising and rightfully there should be more scenes in movies like this. There's so much style like I said put into these scenes.
The action was really well choreographed and easy to see what was happening. The over the top gore was even put to good style and really ups the fun factor too. Uma Thurman really shined as Black Mamba/The Bride.
Her performance was so fun to watch and kicked so much butt while looking good at the same time. Her character had a lot of depth to it, which helped me feel for her because really what happened to her was tragic.
The villains in this movie could say a sentence or two and can still be really awesome villains. O-Ren was a really cool villain. She was mean and straightforward and had people do stuff for her but even on her own she was really tough! There's so much to like in this well put together action/martial arts film, I can't say enough great qualities it possesses.
Kill Bill Vol. 1 was a really awesome gore filled movie. Uma Thurman was great, the tale of revenge was awesome, and the direction was outstanding. A.
