Honestly, I'm biased and will watch anything Beat Takeshi is in. This one is atypically heartwarming, as opposed to his gangster movies. But it doesn't get too sappy or cheesy. He does the right thing in the end, but you definitely wouldn't want this guy babysitting your kid if you had a choice.
