Review of Kikujiro (1999) by Steven M — 15 Dec 2009

This film has a lovely pace and deftly deals with fairly morose themes. I am a big fan of the actor/director and thought that this started quite poorly for him, but it hits its stride halfway through. I laughed a good few times during the section where Kikujiro demands entertainment for his small companion from the odd bunch of guys he meets on his travels.

I must also say that the soundtrack was excellent, particularly the main piano theme.
