Review of Kikujiro (1999) by Benjamin F — 13 Dec 2007
A beautiful movie. An extremely well realized story of childhood, innocence, summer memories, aging, facing cruel twists of life, and the whole gambit of humor from light to dark. One of Takeshi Kitano's best.
If you are a lover of cinema, do not miss it. It's probably as feel-good as Kitano gets while not being at all stupid or shallow. Gorgeous cinematography really draws you into the film, along with good performances from the whole cast, and a memorable Joe Hisaishi score.
