Very over the top, and shows a certain amount of naivete and one-dimensionalness in the drawing of some of its less savoury characters, but overall it does have a certain amount of power to draw the viewer into the lives of its many protagonsits.

By the end you absolutely want the villain of the piece DEAD! Certainly it will appeal to a certain age group who will no doubt romanticize the violence and aggressive tone, and want to see themselves as sharing experiences with these kids, despite the fact that the majority of these characters think, talk and act with such stupidity they seem almost diseased.

If this is in any way a true reflection of inner-city London reality society there could no longer function. This is clearly a very select group of characters we are given to watch: the kids on a road to nowhere, who have accumulated a big fat head full of Wrong, and make the world a scummier place to live because it is all they know.

A film you will feel dirty after having watched, like you've been swimming in a sewer for an hour and a half, but despite its numerous flaws is certainly strong stuff, even if its exaggerated nature does rob it of some of its credibility.

Worth seeing, but dilute with reality while watching.
