Review of Kidulthood (2006) by Danielle K — 15 Dec 2010
I really enjoy movies/shows like this, being a huge fan of Skins. I applaud all those involved because the performances were nice and the characters seemed realistic. The opening scene was shocking and exciting.
However, I feel that the movie did not go as deep as it could have and did not take advantage of all the possibilities the story had to offer. For example, I did not care enough about the girl yet to feel anything when she committed suicide, and it seems the characters didn't care too much either.
It only seemed tangentially related to the events that take place in the movie until the very end, which did get all the characters together, but it sorta felt anti-climatic because I felt more could have happened considering the build-up.
I feel this movie could have been better, but I admit I was interested the entire time.
