Review of Kidnapping Mr. Heineken (2015) by Tristan M — 29 Jan 2016
After seeing the reviews I didn't have a whole lot of great expectations for this one, but I have to say I was surprised. Of you think really hard into what's going on you will find some basic flaws.
The police don't do anything, which makes it nice for our main characters, who don't play the good guys or heroes. They take Heineken, he sits in a room that is cleverly built, and for the rest of the movie, family issues ensue, along with feeding Heineken, and members losing confidence in what they were doing.
The pace is actually good, the plot is interesting and keeps up interest, and the acting is pretty good. The action is ok, the cops suck at everything and can't hit anything so it's never a fair fight.
I have no idea how this played out in real life, I don't doubt the amount of time it took, or how they were caught or split up, but it does feel altered for the sake of film. Overall the movie does depict, to the best of my knowledge, well, and if not it does a good job of making it feel that way.
The ending it good, wraps it up well, without lose ends. Was actually impressed with this one, and am curious to look into this historical event.
