Review of Trainspotting (1996) by Tristan M — 15 Jul 2016
I'm sure there's plenty of movies out there about struggling with drug addiction, although I haven't seen many that focus as much on that topic alone. This a good one that stands out among what I've seen, with a good cast, Ewan does a great job as the main character, and it also has great supporting characters, played by some colourful and amusing actors.
The subject matter is dark however, and in some cases hard to watch just out of how well it is portrayed when Ewan is trying to break free of his addiction and locked in his bedroom, and the pain he goes through.
There's plenty of lessons to be learnt from it, but it's still a good amusing watch, with some funny moments, helped by the interesting soundtrack added into many of the scenes. The ending isn't what I expected it to be, it's less of a true story scenario, him trying the drugs again without getting hooked, giving into giving his friends drug money, then running off with all the money they earned off reselling it.
Overall it is a well done and good movie, doesn't seem like it took a large budget, but by no means seems fake or underdone, it has a more realistic feel.
