Review of Black Mass (2015) by Tristan M — 10 Jul 2016
I feel like we don't see enough of Johnny Depp in non children movies, although his impressive skills in taking on difficult roles while in these made for younger audience movies makes them worth watching.
His work hear is impressive for sure, as he has a talent for dressing and making himself look and also play the part very well, no matter the role. I don't know how close to real events it is, but since most are altered to an extent for film purposes.
However it does a good job of making it all feel very real and convincing, which as well as Depp's acting and how the movie is filmed is what in the end make it a success. The acting is good, the action is short yet brutal and the script is effective.
The story is relatively easy to follow, but at times it gets a bit confusing with who everyone is or what small details are some events. In the end all alliances and bad guys are brought down although it's a process that takes many years in the case of our main gangster.
Overall it's a good movie, intriguing story, with some good acting and performances from some good actors that make it that much better.
