Review of Kick-Ass (2010) by Kane L — 19 Aug 2013
Kick-Ass is the movie adapted from Mark Millar's incredibly violent.
Comic book with the same name. It tells the story of Dave Lizewski who.
Decides to scrap his normal teenage life and become the worlds first.
Real life superhero with no meaningful reason or powers to do so. But when.
Kick-Ass meets more real life superheros , he suddenly gets caught up in a.
Fight that he cannot escape from when introduced to the villain "Frank D'Amico" played by Mark Strong.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays a brilliant , but at first , unlikable.
Teenage character but as the movie progresses you see what a decent.
Human being he is , risking his life to protect people he does not even know.
But , Kick-Ass is not the big deal here. Chloe Grace Moretz playing an.
11 year old "Hit Girl" steals the show by being incredibly badass and.
Using vulgar language all while slaughtering bad guys. Hit girl is also.
Accompanied by her father "Big Daddy" played by Nicholas Cage, and in my opinion,Cage's best performance in recent years , giving a "Chills down spine" moment in a certain scene.
These actors were chosen perfectly for the characters and the audience starts to really engage with them , creating a feeling of sheer dread when you realize that this is a real and brutal movie , anything could happen to the characters at anytime.
The film also has a crusade of songs that fit so well with the tone of the movie that the replay value goes through the roof. Tracks such as John Murphys "Sunshine" and Ennio Morricones "Per Qualche Dollaro In Piu" are placed in perfect timing while really keeping the audiences eyes glued to screen and go on to make some of the most re-memorable action sequences to experience in recent motion picture history.
Kick-Ass's director Matthew Vaughn uses his directing skills to create some beautiful cinematography throughout the film such as Tracking Shots of one of Frank D'Amicos men walking through a beautiful hotel and Extreme Close Up shots of Hit girl and Kick-Ass that reveal raw emotion on their faces as they decide what to do or have to comprehend what just happened. The film also looks beautiful , Matthew Vaughn has really made it look like its straight from a comic book with stylized violence and a cinematic look to it through color correction , that many films these days do not have. The film has fantastic comedy by using very dark and rude humor that is sure to get the audience laughing especially from Christopher Mintz-Plasse character "Red Mist" who plays Frank D'Amicos son as a undercover superhero to trick Kick-Ass.
Overall: Kick-Ass is one hell of a ride , mixing blood and comedy together in one bowl.
Creating an incredibly captivating motion picture experience with scenes of pure cinematic.
Gold and an amazing soundtrack to get the pulse pumping and the face smiling.
