Review of Kick-Ass (2010) by Shoquanda S — 11 Jun 2018
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant parody of the superhero genre. Kick-Ass is a nerdy, violent and comedic rollercoaster which knocks spots off many more mainstream superhero flicks. Aaron Johnson plays the wimpy high school kid who dreams of righting wrongs and so pulls on a green balaclava and fails miserably to deal with the local crime boss played by Mark Strong.
However, he has a secret...he is being assisted by a vigilante father and daughter team who have the skills and hardware to do the job. A fantastic, witty and action packed script by Jane Goldman and writer/director Michael Vaughn is brought to the screen with real flair and violent, irreverent fun.
This movie is a genuine breath of fresh air in a rather tired, flabby and unremarkable comic book genre that is bound to become a cult classic.
