Review of Kick-Ass (2010) by Frances H — 25 Aug 2013
Borrowing narrative elements from Sam Raimi's 'Spider-Man' (2002), and utilising the theme of adolescent angst as a plot device, 'Kick-Ass' mixes humour and stylised violence to great affect.
The cast of kids, good guys and bad are accessible enough to garner audience involvement, though the film takes a little too long to kick into gear; when it does, however, Matthew Vaughn presents a sheer thrill-ride.
