Review of Kahaani (2012) by Deepanjan D — 06 Apr 2012
Superlative performances. Brownie points for casting some inch-perfect supporting cast who carry the movie as much as the excellent Vidya Balan. Realistic depiction of departmental red-tapes and bureau loopholes.
Unlike the hyped "The Dirty Picture" - the plot actually has lot more meat. Calcutta is portrayed in its full bloom, letting it seep into the audience, almost like a character in itself. Those in the know would vouch, that's the only way the city works! Penalties for a weak climax with obvious lifts from "Salt" and "The Usual Suspects".
