Review of Kagemusha (1980) by Martin C — 11 Mar 2008
I dont like samurai movies, but it held my interest until I fell into a deep, deep sleep. These movies are usually liked by amerika-jin dorks who think they are nihon-jin and talk about samurai all the time, and probably take aikido classes and watch anime, and collect facebooks of all the japanese ppl they can find to add to their collection, but I dont care, I watched it.
Nakadai is a nice actor, maybe a little too nice, dont you think? I liked the docu with Coppola and Lucas, you can tell Coppola is somewhat hopeful it will be seen as a great film, whereas Lucas says he likes it quite a bit, with an apologetic tone.
I gave it four stars cuz what the ferk, Kurosawa was an old man, he deserved them, maybe.
