Review of K-PAX (2001) by Ash J — 10 Sep 2010
Kevin Spacey as Prot is at his best the rest of the actors are just props. Spacey is a patient in a mental institution under the care of Jeff Bridges. He claims to be an extraterrestrial inhabiting a man?s body.
Bridges tries multiple techniques to return Prot back to a lucid state, but he can not find any inconsistency to snap Prot back. The deeper he digs the more doubt Bridges builds-up that Prot is a human.
Even with his doubt Bridges must maintain his professional integrity. In my favorite scene Bridges invite Prot home to have dinner with his family, (two large nurses in tow). When Prot meet the family dog he plays with him as a dog and the talks with the dog.
The dog explains that he is deaf in one ear and hates it when the children hide his favorite shoe.
